Jose Caballero Leaves Game With Foot Injury
3 hours agoTampa Bay Rays infielder Jose Caballero (foot) fouled a ball off his foot in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Detroit Tigers and left the contest, according to the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin. Caballero will surely go for testing to determine whether he's dealing with a serious injury, so stay tuned for more news later on Thursday. The 28-year-old native of Panama led the league with 44 stolen bases and was also caught a league-leading 16 times while slashing .227/.283/.347 with nine home runs, 44 RBI and 53 runs scored in 139 games and 483 plate appearances in his first season with the Rays. He's mainly attractive to fantasy managers for his positional versatility and his wheels on the basepaths. With Junior Caminero expected to be a regular starter in 2025, it's possible that Caballero becomes more of a utility infielder in 2025, which would obviously be a big hit to his fantasy value.
