Jose Butto Strikes Out 11 Batters
2 years agoNew York Mets pitching prospect Jose Butto joined the team on a mere $5,000 signing bonus back in 2017. The right-hander from Venezuela sits in the mid-90s with his fastball but has an even better changeup that sets up his heater quite nicely. He has boasted good control and has the makings of a mid-rotation staple as soon as 2023. For what it's worth, the 24-year-old did make one big-league appearance this year, surrendering seven runs and two homers through just four innings. Butto fared much better at Triple-A this past week. His last outing came on Wednesday when he tossed seven innings of scoreless baseball. His final line included two hits, one walk, and a whopping 11 strikeouts.
