Jose Berrios Records Quality Start In No-Decision
3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Jose Berrios authored another strong outing in Friday's win over the Texas Rangers. Berrios pitched six innings, allowing three runs on six hits while issuing one walk. The 26-year-old righty struck out six batters and generated 12 whiffs on 103 pitches. He didn't factor into the decision. Berrios was given a 3-0 lead in the top half of the first but gave up a pair of runs, then kept the scoreboard clean until the bottom of the fourth. He technically left in line for the win, but the bullpen gave up the lead, squandering his chance for the victory. Still, Berrios has now recorded a quality start in three of his last four outings, with a 24:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio in that span. He lines up for a rematch against the Cleveland Indians on June 24. He pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed two runs against them in the first meeting.
