Jose Berrios Owners Should Brace For Impact Against Red Sox
6 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Jose Berrios has been one of the few bright spots in a struggling team this season. The right hander owns a 3.51 ERA and an absolutely sterling 0.95 WHIP, but those numbers might be tested on Tuesday against the visiting Boston Red Sox. To Berrios' credit, he's been great his last six starts, but four of those starts came against subpar offenses — including those of the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers, respectively. The Red Sox offense is a whole different monster. In one career start against them, Berrios got charged with four earned runs in six innings. He did strikeout seven, but instantly got into trouble in the first inning. Owners have to hope that Tuesday's matchup will be a pitcher's duel between two aces (Chris Sale will be on the mound for the Sox), since Berrios is too good of a pitcher — with high strikeout potential — to bench. That said, they would do well to brace for impact, as he is almost sure to be challenged against the Red Sox.
