Jose Berrios Looks To Continue Wave Of Strong Starts Thursday
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays pitcher Jose Berrios will look to stay in a groove Thursday when he takes on the New York Yankees in search of a series split. The right-hander has surrendered two earned runs or less in five of his last six starts as he continues to drive his ERA down toward his peripheral figures. While he still owns a 4.70 ERA on the season, Berrios also sports a 3.59 FIP, 3.78 SIERA, and a quality 17.1% K-BB% that combine to paint a prettier picture than his surface ERA suggests. Berrios has also turned in a 1.53 ERA in 17 2/3 innings at home this season versus a 6.67 figure across 28 1/3 frames on the road. He makes for a fine option on a small slate Thursday despite taking on a potent Yankees offense.
