Jose Alvarado Playing Catch
1 year agoPhiladelphia Phillies lefty Jose Alvarado (elbow) played catch from 60 feet on Tuesday, according to MLB.com. The 28-year-old received a cortisone shot on July 10 and is feeling little pain, but there is still no timetable for his return. Alvarado has been sidelined since the beginning of July after experiencing left-elbow inflammation. Before the elbow issue, he was dominant, pitching to a 1.38 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 36.4% strikeout rate with six saves across 26 innings. It looks like Craig Kimbrel has taken control of the closing duties, so when Alvarado does return, he may be limited to a set-up role.
