Jose Alvarado Could Throw This Week
2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies left-handed reliever Jose Alvarado (elbow) could begin throwing before the end of the team's six-game road trip on May 17 in San Francisco. Alvarado landed on the injured list on May 10 after having posted a 0.63 ERA in 14 relief outings this year and recording five saves in seven chances. He signed a three-year, $22 million contract extension last offseason and had struck out 24 hitters without giving up a walk in 14 1/3 innings. When Alvarado is back, he should continue to see his fair share of save chances for the Phils, making him a valuable fantasy commodity. With the left-hander out of action, Craig Kimbrel and Gregory Soto have each locked down a save for Philadelphia.
