Jose Abreu To Play Through Illness On Saturday
3 years agoChicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu (illness) is dealing with an upper respiratory issue, according to White Sox beat writer Daryl Van Schouwen. To ease his workload in Saturday's game against the New York Yankees, he will be slotting in as the team's designated hitter with Andrew Vaughn covering first base. Abreu is hitting just .207/.299/.326 over 36 games on the year, but he's shown some signs of turning a corner lately. Over his past four games, he's recorded four hits (including two doubles) as well as five walks. Abreu has a history of heating up at the plate as the season goes on, so fantasy managers should remain patient with the 35-year-old veteran.
