Jose Abreu Searching For First Home Run In 2023
2 years agoHouston Astros first baseman Jose Abreu has yet to homer in 2023. He hit 15 homers in 2022, a massive drop from the 30 long balls blasted in 2021. His hard-hit percentage has decreased from 51.8% in 2022 to 37.5% in 2023. The 36-year-old is slashing .266/.301/.304 with nine RBI and five runs scored over 83 plate appearances. He is starting to heat up at the plate and is hitting .417 (5-for-12) with a double and four RBI over his last three games. The Astros have a scheduled day off Thursday; Abreu will look to connect for his first home run against Atlanta Braves right-hander Bryce Elder in Friday's road matchup. Fantasy managers must stay patient and roll with Abreu as he continues to hit in the heart of the order in a loaded Astros lineup that includes Kyle Tucker and Yordan Alvarez.
