1 year agoHouston Astros first baseman Jose Abreu (back) has been placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday. The 36-year-old missed two straight games due to lower back discomfort. After that, Abreu underwent an MRI which revealed inflammation in his back. The veteran slugger received a pair of cortisone shots on Friday. The Astros are going to give Abreu some time to rest and recover. The expectation is that Jon Singleton will get a chance to play more in the absence of Abreu.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
