2 years agoThe Chicago White Sox are likely not going to pursue re-signing free agent first baseman Jose Abreu, per Chicago Sun Times' Daryl Van Schouwen. Abreu has spent his entire nine-season career with the White Sox and had another productive season, slashing .304/.378/.446 with 15 home runs and 75 RBI. However, the White Sox are likely going to give the everyday first base opportunity to 24-year-old Andrew Vaughn, who played outfield for most of this season and slashed .271/.321/.429 with 17 HR and 76 RBI. Abreu has been a higher-end fantasy option for his career, but he will be 36 entering the 2023 season and had a career-low HR count and slugging percentage.
