Jorge Soler To Opt Out Of Final Year Of His Deal
1 year agoThe Miami Marlins have been informed that outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler will exercise his opt-out clause on the final year of his three-year deal with the team, according to sources. It makes sense after Soler clubbed 36 home runs as a first-time All-Star in his second year in Miami in 2023. The 31-year-old right-handed slugger was set to make just $9 million in the final year of his deal in 2024, but he will instead hit the open market this offseason with a chance to make much more on a new deal after his big season at the plate. Soler hit .250 (126-for-504) with 75 RBI along with his 36 home runs. He also has a 48-homer season to his name in 2019, but he was injured in 2022 and finished with only 13 long balls in 72 games.
