Jorge Soler Leading Off In Marlins Debut
3 years agoMiami Marlins outfielder Jorge Soler is batting leadoff in the team's season opener against Logan Webb and the San Francisco Giants on Friday. This will be the Marlins debut for Soler, who signed a three-year deal with the team in March. Soler had an up-and-down season in 2021, but he capped it with a World Series MVP honor. Even though he batted just .223/.316/.432 throughout the 2021 season, he had some elite peripheral power stats, including a 117.9 mph max exit velocity that ranked in the 99th percentile. Unfortunately Soler has a rough track record against Friday's starter, Logan Webb, as he's gone 0-for-6 with five strikeouts against him over his career.
