Jorge Lopez Locks Down Save No. 3 On Friday
3 years agoBaltimore Orioles relief pitcher Jorge Lopez continued his strong start to the 2022 campaign on Friday. He closed out the team's 5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels to earn his third save of the year in as many opportunities. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit and no walks while striking out two. Lopez has a 2.25 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP over eight innings this year. He's also averaging 12.4 K/9 thanks to a career-best 33.3% strikeout rate. The former starting pitcher certainly looks to have made a smooth conversion to a relief role. No other Orioles reliever has recorded a save this year, so it's certainly safe to say that Lopez is the guy you want to roster for saves in the Baltimore pen for now.
