1 year agoBoston Red Sox catcher Jorge Alfaro has officially been released by the team on Saturday. Alfaro opted out of his minor league contract earlier this week so Boston decided to release him in lieu of promoting him to the big league club. The 29-year-old backstop hit .246 with a .668 OPS over 256 at-bats last season for the Padres and offers a decent blend of power and speed from the catcher position.
