Jorge Alfaro, the former top catching prospect of the Philadelphia Phillies entered the 2018 campaign as the starter behind the plate with the club employing a youth movement. The Colombian native has struggled mightily early on, however, slowly losing starts to secondary catcher Andrew Knapp. Entering Friday’s game, he was hitting a poor .163 with just one home run and three RBI. He emerged from the ballgame having doubled his home run and RBI totals as he arguably had the best game of his young career. The 24-year-old recorded three hits, including a two-run home run in the seventh inning that padded his club’s lead.
