Jorge Alfaro Hopeful to Return for Opening Day
6 years agoThe Miami Marlins were given some good news when they cleared catcher Jorge Alfaro for all baseball-related activities. Alfaro, who came over to the Marlins in the trade that sent J.T. Realmuto to the Phillies, has been nursing a hurt knee for the entirety of Spring Training. The team shut him down after he injured himself sliding into second base last week, putting his Opening Day status in jeopardy. According to MLB.com beat writer Joe Frisaro, Marlins' manager Don Mattingly is optimistic that Alfaro will be ready for their March 28 opener. If he's unable to go by Opening Day, Chad Wallach will start in his place.
