Jorge Alfaro Earning Team’s Confidence
7 years agoAfter beginning his Spring Training with a grand slam, Philadelphia Phillies catcher Jorge Alfaro has quieted considerably at the plate. In nine games thus far, he’s hitting .250 with five RBI. The 24-year-old will take on the bulk of starting catcher duties following a cameo in the majors last season that saw him hit .318 in 29 games. While his performance at the plate hasn’t moved the needle much this spring, his performances behind the plate have caused much positive vibes around the club. When you include his weight loss and improved mobility, Alfaro seems set to take on his new role, which will bring about more plate appearances and an opportunity to prove last season’s stint was no fluke.
