Jorge Alcala Shut Down From Throwing
3 years agoMinnesota Twins relief pitcher Jorge Alcala (elbow) has been shut down from throwing in Boston because he felt something that didn't feel quite right in his arm. "We're going to let him reset to zero before we try to build him back up again," manager Rocco Baldelli said. Alcala made two relief appearances for the Twins this year before landing on the injured list with elbow inflammation. The 26-year-old right-hander tossed two scoreless innings with two walks and two strikeouts in his 2 1/3 frames of work. Since Alcala will have to build all the way back up, he's likely to be out for another couple of weeks, at least. He had a 3.92 ERA, a 0.97 WHIP, one save and 61 K's in 59 2/3 relief innings for the Twins in 2021.
