Jordy Mercer Announces Retirement
3 years agoInfielder Jordy Mercer has announced that he is retiring from professional baseball. The 35-year-old made the announcement through his personal Twitter account on Tuesday. The Tweet opened up with a heartfelt thank you message to the game of baseball. He Tweeted, "Thank You baseball! Thank you for the opportunity and love you have given me. I hope I loved you back just as much." Mercer spent 10 years in the majors and played the bulk of his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He retires with a career batting average of .256 and 66 career home runs.
