Jordan Westburg Leaves After Hit-By-Pitch
4 months agoBaltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg (wrist) left Wednesday's contest early against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays after being hit in the wrist on a 95 mph fastball by pitcher Yerry Rodriguez in the fifth inning. Westburg was in some pain but initially stayed in the game before being pulled a half-inning later and replaced by Ramon Urias at third base. Before departing, Westburg went 0-for-2 with a run scored at Camden Yards. The 25-year-old will likely go for X-rays on his wrist. Until we know more, consider him to be day-to-day. Even if Westburg avoids a serious injury, he's unlikely to be active for Thursday's series opener in Cleveland against the Guardians. And if Westburg requires an extended absence, Urias will benefit from regular playing time at third base in Baltimore. Westburg came into Wednesday's series finale with 18 homers, 58 RBI, six steals and 54 runs in 388 at-bats.
