Jordan Walker Not In Consideration To Return To The Big Leagues
5 months agoSt. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker currently has a .686 OPS in 53 games at Triple-A Memphis and is not even in the conversation for a promotion back to the big leagues after he was sent back to the farm at the end of April. The 22-year-old formers 21st overall pick in 2020 hit just .155 (9-for-58) with no home runs, four RBI and 18 strikeouts in 67 plate appearances in 20 games to begin the year before being demoted. Fantasy managers that were expecting a step forward in 2024 after he hit .276/.342/.445 with 16 homers, 51 RBI and seven stolen bases in 117 games in his rookie season in 2023 have been sorely disappointed. Lars Nootbaar returned from his latest injury on Monday and Tommy Edman (wrist) could be back early in the second half, which will make it even more difficult for Walker to get back in the mix in St. Louis.
