Jordan Taylor Making NASCAR Debut At COTA, Will Start 4th
2 years agoA new name will be on the Cup Series results sheet this weekend, as Jordan Taylor is making his NASCAR debut in the #9 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports in place of the injured Chase Elliott, who is still recovering from a broken leg after a snowboarding accident. Jordan Taylor is a two-time IMSA SportsCar Champion and has collected 24 wins over his 83 starts in that series. Now he gets to showcase his skills in one of the top cars in NASCAR, as this #9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet has 7 victories on road courses with Chase Elliott behind the wheel. When asked about the opportunity to race in the Cup Series, Taylor stated, "I'm super thankful for the opportunity. It's definitely intimidating to go into the race weekend in one of the best cars, but at the same time, not that many guys get that chance to be in such a good car." In practice this weekend, Jordan Taylor was 10th-fastest with a speed of 92.404 mph. He qualified 4th for Sunday's EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix with a time of 131.754 seconds.
