Jordan Romano Nails Down 12th Save
3 years agoToronto Blue Jays reliever Jordan Romano pitched a perfect ninth inning on Monday to nail down his 12th save of the season in the club's 2-1 win over the White Sox. The right-hander got a groundout and two strikeouts in his efficient 12-pitch frame to lower his ERA to 2.38 and his WHIP to 1.19 through 45 1/3 IP on the year. He's also struck out well over a batter per inning with 62 K, his only issue is that he's received just 13 save opportunities despite acting as the team's clear closing option. Romano is the product of poor circumstance and shouldn't be overlooked by fantasy managers looking for a reliever down the stretch run.
