Jordan Romano Gets Ninth Save
3 years agoToronto Blue Jays reliever Jordan Romano recorded his ninth save of the season on Friday as his club surpassed the Royals 6-4. The right-hander did allow a run after giving up a leadoff single which was followed by a steal, wild pitch, and a groundout to cash in the runner in the 17-pitch frame. What's notable is that newly acquired Brad Hand pitched the eighth inning in this one which may have tipped manager Charlie Montoyo's hand at who his preferred closer might be moving forward. He has known to play matchups before, however, so it's no lock that Romano has the ninth inning job all to himself. His 2.48 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 44 K in 36 1/3 IP does keep him worth rostering in deeper formats despite a true defined role.
