Jordan Montgomery Fans Seven In Losing Effort
4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery was charged with his first loss of the season on Saturday against the Rays. Montgomery pitched six innings, allowing four runs on two hits with seven strikeouts compared to two walks. The 28-year-old southpaw had 1-2-3 innings in four of his six frames but ran into trouble with the long ball in the second and fourth innings. Montgomery's velocity on his fastball remained strong- and he generated 11 swinging strikes, five of them on his changeup. Despite the loss, it was an improvement from his last start- and he'll look to build on the effort in his next outing against the Indians on April 22.
