1 year agoFree-agent pitcher Jordan Montgomery is garnering interest on the open market from the Boston Red Sox, who have discussed the left-hander with his representation at the general manager meetings. The 30-year-old is fresh off of a World Series championship with the Texas Rangers after the club acquired him from the St. Louis Cardinals prior to the trade deadline. Montgomery had a healthy 2.79 ERA across 11 regular-season starts for the Rangers before posting a 2.32 ERA across 31 postseason frames en route to a World Series title. The Red Sox are in search of rotation help after finishing 21st with a 4.52 ERA from their starters in the 2023 campaign, while Montgomery has a strong track record as a reliable run-preventor who can handle plenty of innings on the heels of a 3.20 ERA across a career-high 188 2/3 innings this past season.--Brenton Kemp
