Jordan Lyles Stumbles In Pittsburgh
7 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Jordan Lyles gave up four earned runs in a no-decision Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Lyles was on pace for a victory before being pulled after giving up back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning to tie the game. For the day, he lasted 5 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits and two walks while striking out four. After flirting with a perfect game in his previous outing, Lyles was inefficient in this start. He's been a popular waiver wire add and now holds a 3.11 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 8.6 K/9. With a 5.31 career ERA, Lyles wasn't expected to repeat last week's performance but has been effective this season by taking a more aggressive approach on the mound. He's solidified his spot in the Padres rotation and should remain useful as a spot starter in fantasy leagues. Lyles faces the division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers this Saturday.
