Jordan Lyles Rocked For Four Home Runs Tuesday
1 year agoKansas City Royals pitcher Jordan Lyles struggled on Tuesday against the visiting Seattle Mariners, surrendering six earned runs on the back of four home runs in five innings of work. The veteran allowed nine total hits and one walk against three strikeouts in five innings, however, his offense took him off the hook for the loss with a three-run ninth inning that tied the game before eventually losing in 10 innings. The long ball continues to decimate Lyles as he sports a 1.92 HR/9 on the season, the second-worst mark in baseball among 62 qualified pitchers and he also sports an elevated 1.40 HR/9 clip for his career. After Tuesday's outing, the right-hander now sports a 6.30 ERA in 23 starts, easily the worst mark in the big leagues among qualified hurlers.
