1 year agoThe Toronto Blue Jays have designated outfielder Jordan Luplow for assignment following the club's acquisition of shortstop Paul DeJong from the St. Louis Cardinals. Relief pitcher Matt Svanson, the return in exchange for DeJong, was assigned to Double-A in an additional roster move on Tuesday. Luplow, 29, got into just seven games with the Blue Jays this season, going 3-for-14 with three walks and eight strikeouts across 17 trips to the plate. He's spent the bulk of the season with Triple-A Buffalo, hitting .239 with eight homers, two stolen bases, and a .779 OPS across 48 games on the season. Luplow has specialized in hitting left-handed pitching in the big leagues, posting a career .833 OPS, .271 isolated power, and a .352 wOBA against lefties across 520 trips to the plate.
