Jordan Lawlar Continues To Rebound From Slow Start
1 year agoArizona Diamondbacks shortstop Jordan Lawlar entered the season as arguably a top-10 prospect in baseball. As a slow start in Double-A continued through Memorial Day, there were growing concerns that Lawlar had taken an unexpected step backwards. On June 1, he entered play hitting just .199 with six home runs and striking out in 27% of his 175 plate appearances. Since then, the 21-year-old has taken off, with a slash line of .300/.393/.541 with eight HRs and 15 steals over 196 plate appearances. Lawlar has brought his overall line to .253/.358/.465 with 14 HRs and 28 stolen bases, and the infielder has also lowered his strikeout rate to 23%. It appears that fantasy managers can exhale, as the former first-round pick has put the slow start in the rearview mirror. Arizona's future shortstop has solidified his status among the game's elite prospects and could make an impact as early as 2024.
