Jordan Hicks Lasts Three Frames In First Start
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jordan Hicks gave up one run over three innings in his first start of the season on Thursday as his club fell to the Marlins 5-0. The right-hander walked two and struck out three in the 46-pitch effort, allowing two hits and his lone run to come around on a fielder's choice groundout. Hicks had made two-scoreless relief appearances this season prior to this start, tossing 27 pitches and then 35 pitches in those outings as he slowly transitions into a starting role. His high-velocity arm has made him a stellar reliever in the past, and he was still able to keep his sinker above 100 MPH in this one, so he makes an intriguing pitcher to keep your eye on as he looks ahead to a date with the Mets next week.
