Jonathan Schoop Hits His 21st Home Run
3 years agoDetroit Tigers second baseman Jonathan Schoop went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the team's 8-7 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Monday. The home run was his 21st of the year. It's been a strange season for the 29-year-old veteran. He started the year off ice cold, including a .198/.230/.284 slash line in April. He then went on to hit 10 home runs and post a 1.077 OPS in June. He's been hitting relatively well over the second half of the year, but his power numbers have essentially been non-existent outside of his monster June. Monday's home run was just his third since August 4. However, despite the strange power fluctuations, he has a solid .278 batting average on the year, well above his career .261 batting average.
