Jonathan Schoop Could Play Several Positions In 2021
4 years agoDetroit Tigers second baseman Jonathan Schoop has discussed playing a number of positions other than second base with manager A.J. Hinch. Schoop recently told reporters that he wants to show he has the ability to play shortstop and third base. He also said he's open to playing the outfield if the team needs him there. Schoop was exclusively used as a second baseman during his first year in Detroit last year. However, he's logged 22 games at shortstop and 17 games at third base over the course of his eight-year MLB career. Schoop slashed .278/.324/.475 with eight home runs, 23 RBI and 26 runs over 44 games in 2020. He's only worth targeting in the late rounds of deep fantasy leagues and AL-only leagues. If he ends up having positional versatility, he could prove to have some sneaky low-end value in those formats.
