Jonathan Quick Getting Traded To Columbus
2 years agoLong-time Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick will finish the season with the Columbus Blue Jackets after the team decided to trade him for defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov and goaltender Joonas Korpisalo. There are also other pieces involved in the deal, but teams haven't yet officially announced the trade. Quick has spent his entire career with the Kings, helping them to win two Stanley Cups, so it's quite a shocker that L.A. is sending him off to the worst team in the league with mere months remaining on Quick's 10-year contract that he signed only a couple of weeks after the American netminder had backstopped the Kings to their first ever Stanley Cup triumph in 2012. Quick has struggled for form this season, going 11-13-4, but he's taken a back seat to Pheonix Copley anyway. Korpisalo comes in with an 11-11-3 record, and in Gavrikov, the Kings pick up one of the best defensive assets on the market who should help the team improve its 3.39 goals-against average.
