Jonathan Quick Gets The Starting Nod Wednesday
12 months agoNew York Rangers goaltender Jonathan Quick was the first goalie off the ice in the morning skate and is the confirmed starter for Wednesday's contest versus the Pittsburgh Penguins. The veteran will give Igor Shesterkin a breather after the latter has allowed seven goals on 37 shots (.811 save percentage) in two starts since returning from injury. While he has allowed 10 goals on his last 95 shots over three starts (.895 Sv%), Quick has still given the Rangers a tidy 1.98 goals-against average and a .928 SV% across six games (five starts), going 4-0-1 in that time. He takes on a Penguins team that sits 12th in overall offense but is also without wingers Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell up front.
