Jonathan Loaisiga Records Fourth Save
3 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Jonathan Loaisiga picked up his fourth save of the season in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Mariners. With Aroldis Chapman (elbow) on the injured list, Loaisiga was called upon to lock down the victory for New York. He didn't disappoint, needing just eight pitches to pick up three quick outs. The effort lowered Loaisiga's ERA and WHIP to 2.48 and 1.05, respectively, to go along with eight wins, four saves, and 14 holds in 54 1/3 innings. He's unlikely to be the primary closer in Chapman's absence, as the Yankees seem to value him in multiple roles, though he will certainly be tasked with the ninth inning from time to time until the Yankee closer returns.
