Jonathan Holder Escapes Mega Jam In Victory
6 years agoAfter starter Sonny Gray put the first two runners on the corners to kick off the sixth inning Monday night at Nationals Park, the New York Yankees went to reliever Jonathan Holder. Clinging on to a two-run lead, Holder had his work cut out for him, but he came up huge to preserve the lead. The 25-year-old struck out the first batter he faced, before striking out a pinch-hitter and inducing one final pop-up to the shortstop, escaping with the two-run lead intact. Holder continues to elevate his status in the Yankees bullpen, now with a 2.19 ERA through 23 games.
