Jonathan Cannon Nearly Achieves Complete-Game Shutout
5 months agoChicago White Sox starting pitcher Jonathan Cannon turned in an excellent start in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Astros. Cannon pitched 8 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts on 106 pitches. He got the first two outs in the ninth inning but allowed back-to-back singles before getting replaced by John Brebbia to get the final out. The 23-year-old rookie has put forth a strong showing in the big leagues despite lackluster minor-league numbers and is now 1-1 with a save to go with a 3.34 ERA, a 7.79 K/9 rate, and a 1.67 BB/9 rate in six appearances (five starts). Given the lack of offensive support and his mediocre minor-league track record, he may not be the most appealing fantasy option, but his next scheduled start will be a strong matchup at the Tigers. As such, Cannon could be worth a look for less risk-averse fantasy managers.
