5 months agoWashington Commanders standout defensive tackle Jonathan Allen (pectoral) suffered a torn left pectoral muscle in the Week 6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens and will need season-ending surgery, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Allen is getting a second opinion on his injury, but the Commanders will not have him for the rest of the year. It's a big loss for the interior of Washington's defensive line for the rest of the season. The two-time Pro Bowler (2021-22) had 15 tackles (13 solo), two sacks and six QB hits for the Commanders through the first six games of the season before getting injured on Sunday. Now that the 29-year-old is out the rest of the way, the Commanders will be hoping that rookie second-rounder Jer'Zhan Newton can step up with more playing time. During Allen's two Pro Bowl seasons with Washington, he totaled 16.5 sacks in 33 games played.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
