Jonatan Clase Sent Back To The Minors
6 months agoSeattle Mariners executive vice president and general manager of baseball operations Justin Hollander announced on Monday that the team optioned rookie outfielder Jonatan Clase to Triple-A Tacoma. The 22-year-old appeared in his first 15 big-league games and went 6-for-34 (.176) with no homers, a double, three RBI and 13 strikeouts in 35 plate appearances. In 28 games for Tacoma in 2024, Clase has hit .255 (28-for-110) with four home runs, 16 RBI and 12 stolen bases. The Mariners' No. 10 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, only started three games while with the big-league roster and could use more everyday playing time back on the farm. The Dominican switch-hitting outfielder relies mostly on speed, but there's also some intriguing power despite his 5-foot-9 frame. Clase is only worth stashing in dynasty/keeper leagues in 2024.
