Jon Singleton Signs Minor-League Deal With Mets
5 hours agoFirst baseman Jon Singleton signed a minor-league contract with the New York Mets on Wednesday. He was recently released by the Astros after not making their Opening Day roster, although he was surprisingly effective in 2024. He slashed .234/.321/.386 with 13 home runs, 42 RBI, and 46 runs in 119 games. The slugger strikes out a lot but makes up for it with an excellent walk rate, posting an 11.6% walk rate last season that ranked in the 91st percentile. He could wind up on the Mets major league roster at some point this season as a bench bat or potential DH option.
