Jon Gray Will Avoid Rehab Assignment
3 months agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Jon Gray (groin) will not need to embark on a rehab assignment before returning to the big leagues according to Texas skipper Bruce Bochy. Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reported that the right-hander speculated that he might make a relief appearance before making his first start. Gray has been on the 15-day injured list since July 29 with a right groin strain. This is a great sign, as Gray seems to be recovering quite well and should be ready to take on an expected workload shortly after he returns. Prior to the injury, Gray posted a 3.72 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a 23:78 BB:K ratio through 94 innings of work this season. Once the 32-year-old returns to the rotation, fantasy managers should expect Jose Urena to shift to a bullpen role.
