Jon Duplantier Optioned Out After Nice Outing
6 years agoArizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Jon Duplantier allowed just one hit and two walks with four strikeouts over four scoreless frames of extra-innings relief in Sunday's 6-5 home loss against the Chicago Cubs. He threw 34 of his 58 pitches for strikes and was optioned out to Triple-A Reno after the game for a fresh arm. It's not due to poor performance, obviously, as he has allowed just three hits with four walks and seven strikeouts in eight scoreless innings over three relief appearances this season. He was sent to Reno in early April to be stretched out as a starter, and he'll likely resume that role in his latest stint with the Aces.
