Johnny Cueto Agrees To Deal With Marlins
2 years agoAccording to a tweet from the Miami Herald's Craig Mish on Tuesday, free-agent starter Johnny Cueto reportedly is in agreement with the Miami Marlins. Cueto is guaranteed $8.5 million in the agreement, per sources -- $6 million in 2023 with a $10.5 million club option in 2024 ($2.5 million buyout). Cueto made 25 appearances for the Chicago White Sox last year, 24 of which were starts. He turned in a 3.35 ERA and a 3.79 FIP in 158 1/3 innings of work while striking out 102 batters and surrendering just 33 walks. The veteran starter will join a Marlins rotation mix that also includes Sandy Alcantara, Pablo Lopez, Jesus Luzardo, Trevor Rogers, Edward Cabrera, and Braxton Garrett.
