Johnny Cueto's Rehab Assignment Off to Good Start
5 years agoSan Francisco Giants starting pitcher Johnny Cueto (elbow) has pitched well in his first return to the mound since undergoing Tommy John's surgery last summer. He struck out five hitters on 21 pitches through two innings in an Arizona League game in Scottsdale. The Giants are looking towards having Cueto back with the team in early September. Cueto had a great 2016 for the Giants before faltering in the last two seasons, although the team is hopeful the surgery will make him a useful starter as they push for a playoff spot. The right-hander can be effective for fantasy owners when healthy, but he'll be a big risk in standard fantasy leagues, especially since he may only see a handful of shortened starts in the final month of the season.
