Johnathan Rodriguez Optioned To Triple-A
1 week agoCleveland Guardians outfield prospect Johnathan Rodriguez was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday. Rodriguez made the Opening Day roster but did not find consistent at-bats. As a result, the team will opt for their No. 13-ranked prospect to see more playing time with Triple-A Columbus. In his brief look at the majors this season, he went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts. The 25-year-old also saw a brief taste of the big leagues last summer as he held a .129/.325/.161 line across 13 contests. However, Rodriguez performed very well with Triple-A Columbus last season and could push for an early return to the majors this summer if he picks up where he left off. Across 118 contests, the outfielder posted an impressive .301/.390/.540 slash line 18 doubles with 29 long balls. He is worth closely monitoring in AL-only formats.
