Johnathan Rodriguez Joining Major-League Roster
Johnathan Rodriguez was promoted to the MLB roster prior to Thursday's contest. Rodriguez was initially optioned to Triple-A Columbus but returned to the majors once Cleveland placed several pitchers on the injured list. During spring training, the 25-year-old posted a .217/.375/.391 slash line with a long ball. He received a brief taste of the majors last season as he tallied four hits (one extra-base hit) across 13 contests. He tallied five RBI and held a 9:14 BB:K. Rodriguez was very productive at Triple-A last summer as he posted a strong .301/.390/.540 slash line with 18 doubles and 29 round-trippers. Fantasy managers should expect Rodriguez to serve as a depth outfielder and could eventually see playing time over Jhonkensy Noel. However, given his low projected playing time at the moment, he should only be rostered in deeper AL-only leagues as a stash option.

Johnathan Rodriguez Sent To Triple-A
Johnathan Rodriguez to Triple-A Columbus. Rodriguez was competing for a starting role in the outfield but fell short, given his struggles during camp. Across 13 contests, Rodriguez held a modest .217/.375/.391 slash line with just one home run and one double. Last summer, Rodriguez made his MLB debut and posted a .129/.325/.161 slash line across 13 MLB contests. He tallied just one extra-base hit but held a solid 5:9 BB:K. At the Triple-A level, Rodriguez flashed his upside as he hit for a strong .301/.390/.540 line. Across 118 games, Rodriguez went deep 29 times and added 18 doubles. He swiped eight bags and held a 64:128 BB:K. With Rodriguez opening the season at Triple-A, fantasy managers should expect Will Brennan and Jhonkensy Noel to see most of the starts in right field.

Johnathan Rodriguez Named Top Cleveland Hitting Prospect Of 2024
Johnathan Rodriguez Cleveland's top hitting prospect of the 2024 campaign. Rodriguez, the No.12 ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com, spent most of his season with Triple-A Columbus before getting a brief taste of the big leagues. Through 117 games at Triple-A, the 25-year-old carried a stellar .301/.390/.540 slash line with 18 doubles, 29 home runs, 94 RBI, and eight stolen bases. This was a steady improvement from the .280 AVG and 11 home runs he hit at Triple-A during the 2023 season. In the majors, the former third-round selection posted an underwhelming .129/.325/.161 line through a small 13-game stint. Fantasy managers in deeper five-outfielder leagues should pay attention to his development during Spring Training as he could contend for a spot on the Opening Day Roster.
