John Tavares Scores His 11th Hat Trick
2 years agoToronto Maple Leafs center John Tavares scored his 11th career hat trick and his first in three years as the team picked apart Philadelphia 5-2 Wednesday night. Tavares put Toronto 2-1 up in the first period and grabbed a pair of late goals to lock up the victory. He struck once on the power play and also had one power-play assist in the contest. The Maple Leafs captain is rolling nicely at the start of the season, having finished pointless just twice, and going for seven goals and seven assists in 11 outings. Alex Ovechkin (28), Eric Staal (14), Evgeni Malkin (13), Connor McDavid (12), David Pastrnak (12) and Sidney Crosby (12) are the only active players with more hat tricks than Tavares.
