Toronto Maple Leafs center John Tavares led the team with two points as the squad battled out a 3-2 overtime victory against the Ottawa Senators in Tuesday's Game 2. Tavares played a key role as Toronto jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first period, recording a power-play goal and an even-strength assist. However, Ottawa managed to tie the game, forcing it into overtime. Max Domi ended the contest with 3:09 played in the extra frame. Over the first two games of the series, Tavares has been highly effective, posting two goals and two assists. On Tuesday, he became the third Maple Leafs player in the past 35 years to begin a postseason with consecutive multi-point games.

Toronto Maple Leafs center John Tavares tallied three points during their 4-3 victory over the New York Rangers on Thursday evening. Tavares would open the scoring as he found the back of the net for the 28th time this season on a snapshot. Later in the frame, Tavares would add the secondary assist on Bobby McMann's 19th goal of the campaign. In the second, Tavares would score his second goal of the evening, this time on a slap shot. This performance earned him his 1,100 career point. He is the eighth active player to achieve this feat. Over his previous 10 contests, the 34-year-old has found the back of the net seven times and added four helpers. Through 62 games, Tavares has scored 29 goals and added 31 helpers with a +5 rating. He will look to stay hot on Saturday evening against the Nashville Predators.

Toronto Maple Leafs center John Tavares (lower body) has been activated from Injured Reserve and is poised to re-enter the lineup on Saturday against the Edmonton Oilers. Tavares will end a six-game absence. He will grab the second-line center role, with Max Pacioretty and William Nylander completing the trio. Tavares is averaging nearly a point per game this season, sporting 20 goals and 22 assists in 44 games. He will attempt to end a three-game scoreless spell on Saturday night.

According to Mark Masters of TSN, Toronto Maple Leafs forwards John Tavares (lower body) and Matthew Knies (upper body) could return to the starting lineup on Saturday evening to face the Edmonton Oilers. Tavares has been sidelined over the past six games but has resumed skating this week, which is a positive sign. Knies has missed the last two contests and is trending towards a quick return. Before the injury, Tavares tallied four points over his previous six games. Across 44 total games, the 34-year-old has tallied 42 points. Knies was enjoying a nice offensive surge as he tallied 12 points, including seven goals in 10 games before his injury. Both forwards would be expected to return to the top six on Saturday night and would be viable options in DFS.
